Last year might have ended with a disappointing Yash Raj film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, but we’re looking forward to a few good films that are coming out in the next few weeks. First on the list is…well it should’ve been Chandni Chowk to China but looking at the promos we knew it wouldn’t be worth a trip to the theater. Now that we’ve read reviews and talked to a few people, we can be adamant that it’s not even worth the $5 Tuesday viewing.

As for now, we’re eagerly awaiting the release of Luck By Chance followed by Billu Barber. Luck By Chance is about the film industry and it’s Zoya Akhtar’s debut as a director! Zoya has to be brilliant; first we were in love with Javed Akhtar’s sense of humor and his beautiful poetry…then came Farhan as a director, actor, singer, and TV show host, so now we have high expectations from Zoya, and rightfully so, since she comes from a family of “Geniuses!” As far as Billu Barber is concerned, well we love Lara Dutta and cannot wait to see her in a movie…finally!

The list continues with Dev D., which looks brilliant and why shouldn’t it be, after all the talented Mr. Kashyap (Black Friday, No Smoking) is directing and the wise* Abhay Deol is in the title role. New York, because it has our favorite hottie John Abraham and the incredibly promising Neil Nitin Mukesh, plus it’s directed by Kabir Khan (Kabul Express anyone?!), which is just the cherry on top! Delhi 6, because of the all-star cast, which filmy isn’t a sucker for those! Plus we’re looking forward to Sonam Kapoor, our favorite Filmistan Fashionista, coming back with a bang!

There’s My Name is Khan in the “nearish” future, if you don’t know by now, we love Karan Johar and come on, who isn’t psyched about seeing Shahrukh and Kajol together again?! And last but not least, Three Idiots, well…because any Aamir Khan movie is a special occasion on its own.

P.S. If you guys haven’t done so yet, please check out this incredibly beautiful song from Luck By Chance – Sapnon Se Bhare Naina
*Wise, smart, genius whatever you may call it, the man is no idiot. His choices speak for themselves: Manorama-Six Feet Under, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! Lucky,Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Ahista Ahista, Socha Na Tha

  1. last year was truly a let down. I just don’t feel the magic of the movies! i hope luck by chance brings it alive 🙂

  2. ok, so i do agree chandi chowk to china is a disappointment….but what i dont understand is why its playing at many non indian theatres (Century Theatre in Union City). Roger Ebert said it better
“It will appeal to the large Indian audiences in North America and to Bollywood fans in general, who will come out wondering why this movie, of all movies, was chosen as Hollywood’s first foray into commercial Indian cinema. I don’t know a whole lot about Bollywood, and even I could name some better possibilities.”
